4-month Anxiety Reduction Program

Anxiety is not a disorder, it’s a coping strategy…

One we developed, usually as kids, to respond to a situation in which it didn’t feel safe for us to just relax and be ourselves. We all have these strategies, but when we don’t heal and update them to match our current circumstances (rather than continuously running our childhood programming), we often feel trapped and unable to move forward — no matter how hard we try.

Anxiety stems from the belief that in order to feel safe and OK, we need to control, manage and predict the outside world.

This is akin to the leaf of a tree trying to find safety by attempting to control the wind and rain. It’s highly ineffectual, and will merely lead the leaf to feel small and powerless.

Instead of trying to control the weather patterns, we need to connect back to our trunk and roots, and access the ground within. That way, we can maintain our center and sense of self regardless of what’s happening externally. Then, a big storm might blow some leaves around or even knock off some branches, but it won’t uproot our very sense of self, or send our nervous system into a panicky survival state (unless the situation actually warrants it).

In my experience, if we don’t heal anxiety at its root and calm the nervous system through the body, the mind will continue its incessant spinning in search of external safety.

However, most non-pharmaceutical treatments for anxiety reduction focus on modifying our thoughts rather than getting us out of our heads and into our bodies. While this can help on a cognitive level, it doesn’t reset the nervous system. And methods that do bring the body in can offer symptom relief, but don’t heal the root cause (so symptoms tend to return).

I believe that the pathway from anxiety to inner peace requires:

  • Finding our sense of safety internally, instead of expecting to get it from the external world
  • Healing the wounds that led us to develop our hyper-vigilance patterns in the first place;
  • Learning self-empathy skills so we can turn our inner critic into our inner cheerleader;
  • Connecting to our inner wisdom and making space for our higher purpose to shine through.

And I’ve developed an incremental program that will lead you through each of those steps so you can start feeling more whole, integrated, and able to approach life transitions with ease (and perhaps even excitement!).

The program:

In this one-on-one four month/four step program, you will cover 4 in-depth modules:

  1.  Strengthen your roots: develop a daily grounding practice to find calm from within
  2. Clear the debris: heal the root causes of your anxiety
  3. Nourish: learn to treat yourself with kindness
  4. Flourish: create your vision for a joyful and purposeful life

How it works:

  • Two months of weekly and two months of biweekly (total of 12) one-on-one 90 minute sessions (in person or over zoom) over 4 months
  • Practices/homework in between sessions
  • Supplementary resources for each module to deepen your learning/healing
  • Email access to Jenny between sessions
